New Beginnings

Hello!

Well, this is a new experience for me. Welcome to my first ever blog! First things first, I will start with an introduction. I'm Jo, one half of Science of Creativity and my partner in crafts (sorry, that's a terrible pun) is Ryan. We met at Oxford during our PhDs and discovered that, among many other things, we shared a passion for crafting. It could have been a fairy tale; a chance meeting, some challenges in the middle and ending with a happy every after. But me being a true Jane Austen girl would say that I met my Mr Darcy.

Ok, enough with the romanticism. How did Science of Creativity begin? It began as a lot of good things do. Over a glass of wine. We were working on our personal cross-stitch projects, discussing life, when we started to wonder if anyone else would like to buy cross-stitched crafts. This idea developed over multiple trips to a coffee shop (Ryan is a coffee-afficionado) and, after many doodlings and much trial and error (as scientists, this is a usual order of events), we decided on the name Science of Creativity.

But what to sell? We both love cross stitch, so that was a definite. Ryan is also a keen book-binder, so that was on the list too. I have quite a vivid imagination and so since then, every trip to the shops has been an inspiration for new ideas. Some have worked, some have not and some are still in-production. However, overall we decided that our main focus would be on quality small handcrafted gifts. After all, all good things come in small packages....well, that is one of my favourite sayings, being of a rather petite build.

Anyway, for a first blog this is probably enough ramblings for now.

Until next time!

Jo
