Walk All Over Cancer

Hi all!

Next month, Ryan and I are taking part in Walk All Over Cancer. This is a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK and the aim is to walk 10,000 steps every day. To some people this sounds like a lot, to others it sounds like an easy-peasy target. I think both! When I was working in Oxford, I would normally reach 10,000 steps before I got to work as I had to walk there from across the town. However, on days when I was at home I would barely get to 5,000!

If you would like to support us, please donate via this link:

I first got my fitbit last year as a couple of my lab members had one and I wanted to join in the competition (all in a friendly way of course!). Since then, I have loved trying to reach 10,000 steps every day and so I thought that this fundraiser was perfect for me.

Cancer is a devastating illness. It has affected all of us in one way or another; either having lost someone, known someone who has beaten it or suffering from it yourself. I myself lost my grandad to brain cancer and my cousin to bowel cancer (she was only 27 and far to young to die!) I am doing this fundraiser, partly as a memory to them and partly to help fund the research that will save more lives!

This week, I have been walking in the Lake District to get some stepping practise in! Though it's a shame these steps won't count to my June 10,000 step daily target!

Just a reminder, if you would like to help support this amazing research, please donate here:

Thanks so much. In the words of tesco, every little helps!

Jo
